Writed

An Offline Journal App With Built-In AI

Writed is an offline journal app: after a one-time setup, it runs with no network connection at all. Write, search, and even chat with your journal on a plane — everything happens on your device.

Truly offline, including the AI

Plenty of apps claim 'offline mode' but still ping a server for sync, login, or AI. Writed is a static website with no backend. The only time it touches the network is your first visit, when your browser downloads the AI model files from public CDNs. After that, you can disconnect entirely — writing and chatting keep working.

Your data lives on your device

Entries are stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB), not a cloud account. There's no sign-up and no email. Because there's no server, there's nothing to breach and no account to lose access to.

Portable Markdown, no lock-in

Export your entire journal as a zip of plain Markdown files with YAML frontmatter at any time. Open them in any editor, Obsidian, or Logseq. Writed is free and open source under the MIT license.

Frequently asked questions

Does Writed need the internet?
Only once — your first visit downloads the AI model files. After that, writing, searching, and chatting all work fully offline.
Where are my entries stored?
In your browser's local IndexedDB storage on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
What if I clear my browser data?
Clearing site data deletes your entries, so export a Markdown zip regularly to keep a backup you control.
